As we begin crunching the data for our 2025 ESG report and looking forward to the exciting campaigns on the horizon, it’s important to stop and reflect on the great work we’ve done in the ESG space with our clients.
At Speed, we’re in an enviable position of helping brands and businesses live their values and positively impact social, cultural, and environmental issues. We’re able to reach millions of people every week and are progressively influencing client thinking, strategy and approach.
When it comes to ESG, we lead from the front – living our own values and purpose, committed to supporting our team, community and the wider environment.
Both our business & corporate and consumer teams have delivered campaigns that have sparked meaningful conversations and encouraged positive behaviour change to benefit both the communities we live within and the planet.
Here’s a few of the great campaigns we’ve worked on:
1.Brabantia – Love Your Laundry
Working with a meteorologist we revealed the ideal weather conditions for drying laundry outside as 12 degrees with a wind speed of 15mph. We developed a digital drying index to provide a drying success score at a postcode level and a dedicated webpage which hosted a Drying Index, to provide deeper advice and insight to caring for your clothes.
Through integrated campaign combined traditional PR with digital assets and influencer collaborations, we drove awareness and conversation around the ease of drying outside and the benefits of this for clothes, finances and the planet.
On the day of launch we saw a huge spike in website visits driven by blanket national coverage including a full page in the Sun and a broad cross section of broadcast. The campaign drove a media reach of over 685million and Brabantia saw a 450% increase in traffic to the website on the day of launch.
Why we love it: The campaign delivered a practical, easy-to-use tool that people can use to help change their laundry habits for the better – reducing energy use and bills, and in turn carbon emissions.
2. LRQA – Supply Chain ESG Risk Outlook report
LRQA’s Supply Chain ESG Risk Outlook report is based on a dataset of more than 25,000 audits per year from the company’s supply chain intelligence platform, EiQ.
With data released every six months, we work with LRQA to leverage the insight and highlight the risks, and human rights and environmental violations hidden within supply chains. This also includes shining a light on key issues emerging in western countries such as risks for foreign migrant workers, as well as the solutions that are helping identify violations like grievance mechanisms.
We partnered with LRQA to offer briefings to national media and thought leadership that highlights global supply chain risks and emphasises the role of continuous assurance in protecting suppliers and workers in real time. Our outreach resulted in media coverage in Bloomberg, the Financial Times and key trade media.
Why we love it: Our client’s insight is helping shine a light on issues that might otherwise remain hidden, helping businesses to improve working conditions, wellbeing, and operations for people around the world.
3. CONNECT2CARE HEROES
The C2C Heroes Awards aims to recognise the amazing work of both apprentices and apprenticeship employers across the country and showcase the diverse range of apprenticeships in adult care, healthcare and early years.
We created an emotive video series awarding those who were selected as Connect2Care Heroes in 2023, with the campaign achieving thought leadership coverage across 100% of target media.
Why we love it: This campaign highlights the vital work of individuals in the care and early years sectors, demonstrating how rewarding a career in these professions can be.
4. BRITA VIVREAU – Bubbling Under
This campaign exposed the hidden waste in businesses – and crucially what could be done to combat this. In partnership with key influencers, we looked at how waste could be eradicated and conducted research on the hidden waste bubbling beneath the surface. This was backed up by social media assets to help businesses turn over a new leaf.
The campaign achieved coverage across target media resulting in a 1.2m reach, 76 toolkit downloads and high engagement and click-through rate on LinkedIn.
Why we love it: As a business committed to reducing our own impact, this campaign resonated strongly with our values. It not only highlighted the extent of hidden waste but also provided practical tips to help businesses tackle the issue head-on.
5. EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT NETWORK (EDN) – Prescribing Success with Inclusivity
Hustle-culture has led to a generation of people who feel they must ‘do it all’ at work and in a job market where businesses are under more pressure than ever, imposter syndrome is rife. This campaign found that almost half of all UK adults have experienced it.
The Prescribing Success campaign recognized the impact of imposter syndrome, launching a call for more open communication, and suggesting it should be a diagnosable condition. It came to life across multiple channels, empowering individuals to identify their inner imposter and banish workplace worries around asking for training and support.
The result was coverage across key national, regional, and trade titles with a reach of 41m and a campaign that highlighted a pervasive issue.
Why we love it: Imposter syndrome can affect all employees – regardless of sector, seniority or experience. This brought the issue to the fore, generating valuable discussions and providing actionable tips to help the workforce overcome it.
We’re proud to have delivered each of these campaigns and see our work have a positive impact on the world. As we move forward, we’re excited to build on this momentum and continue delivering client work that brings to life their values and purpose in the social and environmental space.
