The end of 2024 marks a whole year since we started working with 1625 Independent People, our company charity. When we set out to select a new charity partner, the most important thing to us was that we selected a charity that our team of Speedsters would really love to support in everything from fundraising to working together to raise awareness of the charity’s role in the local community. After shortlisting four Bristol-based charities for our team to review, the vote was overwhelmingly for 1625 – a service that is dedicated to preventing homelessness in young people and keeping young people in the South West safe.
After getting to know the team and the essential services they offer, we kicked off our work with a campaign to shed light on the rising issue of homelessness in the South West and the barriers young people at risk of homelessness face in achieving their dreams. Through a consumer survey we found that 1 in 3 adults in the South West have been concerned about becoming homeless, rising to 2 in 5 young people aged 18-24. The news story raised awareness of 1625 IP in the South West and boosted coverage for 1625’s annual Sleep Out event, with Points West doing a live broadcast on the night.
In addition to supporting 1625 with media awareness in the South West we have:
We’re looking forward to building on these foundations next year and working hard to support our charity and all of the young people it benefits.
